Opti Clinic before the Choco Cup

Dear All,

My name is Péter TÖRÖK, I am the trainer of Team Hungary. As you all know, the IODA Optimist European Championship will be held at Balatonföldvár in 2013. To facilitate the preparation of prospective participants, we would like to invite all interested participants to our training camps organised at the location of the competition.

Let me introduce myself briefly on the occasion that I will be in charge of leading the technical preparation during the training camps.

I have been working with competitive Optimist sailors for twelve years and I have been leading the Hungarian national team for ten years now. I led the national team during nine European Championships and two World Championships so far. During preparation our team participates in major Optimist competitions across Europe and I also organise training camps for them in connection with these events. During my work I endeavour to train successful participants efficiently and in a very short time by using suitable training methods. As a result we won one women’s silver medal in 2008, one men’s silver medal in 2009, one men’s bronze medal and a fifth place in 2010 in the European Championship and our team finished at the fifth place in the European ranking.

Trainings held at the location of the competition have always played an important part in the successful preparation for European tournaments. Therefore, we would like to provide this opportunity for prospective participants and teams here, in Balatonföldvár. In our training camps you will get to learn how to sail under the local circumstances on Lake Balaton, as well as the wind conditions of the location of the European Championship and the strategies applied during large international competitions. The main topics of the training camp will be the perfect setting of boats, fast boats, impeccable manoeuvres, successful start, racing tactics and strategies. And most importantly, we will reveal, accept and improve on our faults efficiently.

Dear fellow sailors! I hope you will take this opportunity and visit our training camps where you will find excellent opportunities to make new friends and to get acquainted with the wonderful Balaton landscape besides preparation. I believe that the hours spent sailing here will help you a lot in obtaining the desired European Championship results.
