The Practice Race was cancelled at the IODA European Championship in Balatonföldvár due to the strong NW wind blowing 25 knots. Yet some of the teams went out for a heavy air training while others elected to stay on shore to save energy and equipment for tomorrow’s races.
Safety was key issue at the Team Leaders’ meeting today. Coaches were asked to carefully check every sailor’s safety equipment before going out to the water each day. Partnership with the Water Rescue Services of Hungary means that their rescue-boat with lifeguard and medical personnel can reach the racecourse within five minutes in case of an emergency call.
The final number of competitors is 248 from 40 countries. Girls and boys will compete separately, divided into five groups (2 for girls, 3 for boys). The first race is scheduled 10 am tomorrow. Stay tuned!
